The word "decoration" comes from the Latin "decorativo", which means to give aesthetic beauty to something. What tasks should the professional interior decorator perform?

The professional interior decorator is the person in charge of planning, controlling and directing the whole process of decoration of a space, from the initial conception of the project, until its total completion, taking into account not only its aesthetic and functional criteria, but also the objectives, tastes and desires of the client.

To ensure that the final result of their work satisfies all their professional expectations and at the same time conquers the taste and trust of the client, interior decorators must:

• Establish a dialogue with the client to know in addition to their general ideas about the project (such as the purpose pursued, the budget, the approximate time of completion, etc.); other aspects that allow you to know their interests, their desires, their tastes and aspirations.
• Collect all the data that will allow the subsequent planning work. For this purpose, you can use existing plans, measurements of rooms and furniture, photographs, etc.
• Present to the client through general sketches different options, where different materials, budgets and styles are taken into account, favoring his participation in the taking of all the main decisions.
• Advise, instruct and train clients on topics related to decoration. For example: The colors of the rooms, the placement of the paintings, the punctual illumination, etcetera.
• Coordinate with the client the purchase and installation of furnishings, as well as the hiring and supervision of labor force.
• Periodically review and evaluate with the client the development of the whole process, paying special attention to their opinions and recommendations, noting and solving as quickly as possible each of their dissatisfactions.
