Design and Implementation of the Workshop ,I Learn About and Exercise My Sexuality Respons
Pedagogical Rationale and Justification
Psychoeducational intervention in the field of adolescent emotional and sexual health addresses the pressing need to fill information gaps and deconstruct deeply rooted sociocultural prejudices.
This workshop is designed as a structured educational program for students in the final years of compulsory secondary education, a group that is ethically vulnerable to environmental influences and misinformation.
Its core purpose is to promote the exercise of an autonomous, reflective, and highly responsible sexuality, directly preventing unplanned pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted infections.
By integrating ethical education with human development, the initiative goes beyond purely mechanistic anatomical instruction to foster a trustworthy educational environment.
In this space, students are able to debunk myths, assess future risks, and strengthen their identity, transforming unfounded fears into vital skills for a healthy, fulfilling, responsible, and well-rounded life—one that is integrated into their daily and ongoing development within the current school environment.
Curriculum Structure and Operational Content
The methodological approach is systematically organized into six instructional units of fifty minutes each, pedagogically integrated through curricular infusion into ethics education courses.
The first session addresses the processes of puberty and the identification of reproductive anatomy without euphemisms.
The second session analyzes the factors contributing to teenage pregnancy, providing a detailed assessment of its biological, psychological, and socioeconomic repercussions.
The third session provides training on the logistics of use, effectiveness, and selection criteria for contraceptive methods.
The fourth unit focuses on the symptoms, prevention, and hygiene practices related to sexually transmitted infections.
Finally, the fifth and sixth units delve into the sex-gender system, critically analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the stereotypical roles that society traditionally imposes on men and women, while promoting equity and relational inclusion within a framework of mutual respect in the contemporary social context of their educational community and immediate surroundings.
Workshop Methodology, Implementation, and Evaluation
The methodology adopts an active and interactive approach characteristic of action research, using experiential activities, group discussions, and the analysis of real-life cases.
This design replaces the traditional rote-learning model with meaningful learning that draws on the students’ experiences.
During its practical application at a technical high school, the workshop demonstrates the importance of adapting academic schedules and managing limitations in technological resources through creative pedagogical strategies.
Impact eva luation is conducted on an ongoing basis through observation of the activities and via a reflective assessment tool at the conclusion of the workshop.
