Transcription Systematic Destruction of Self-Esteem
Constant criticism, blame and exposure to negativity.
Self-esteem acts as the immune system of the psyche; when high, it repels manipulative attacks. Therefore, the aggressor works tirelessly to dismantle it.
This is accomplished through the use of calculated phrases designed to belittle, confuse and cast doubt on the victim's self-worth.
These are not just direct insults, but subtle criticisms that corrode inner confidence. A favorite tool is constant blaming.
The manipulator holds the victim responsible for every problem, mistake or bad mood that occurs in the environment.
Over time, this repetition causes the person to internalize the blame, believing that he or she is defective or incapable of doing anything right.
In addition, they seek to "flood" the victim's environment with negativity, either by introducing them to toxic people or by systematically discrediting their ideas and projects, such as a colleague who always finds fault with someone else's work to prevent the other from excelling.
Feeding fears and insecurities to encourage submission.
Fear is the fertilizer of insecurity. Manipulators actively nurture their victims' fears - fear of abandonment, fear of failure, fear of ridicule - knowing that the more frightened a person is, the lower his or her self-esteem.
Low self-esteem directly benefits the aggressor because it transforms the victim into someone "nice" and compliant, desperate for external approval in order to feel valid. The ultimate goal is to eliminate personal boundaries.
A person with destroyed self-esteem feels they have no right to defend themselves or demand respect, allowing the manipulator to cross ethical and emotional lines without encountering resistance.
