European Union Regulation No. 1169/2011, establishes regulations about the food information that must be provided to consumers.

The allergen labeling rules contained in European Regulation No. 1169/2011 apply in addition to the rules governing the use of the terms "gluten-free" and "very low gluten" on food labeling.

These rules state that it is mandatory to make clear reference on the label to the content of those products with cereals that contain gluten.
