  Evasive behaviors in couples

Refusal to report contacts

Epidemiological control of communicable diseases depends fundamentally on honesty and transparency within interpersonal relationships.

However, a massive obstacle to community-based prevention lies in the outright refusal of many diagnosed patients to inform their intimate partners about recent infectious exposures.

This dangerous silence is not usually motivated by pure malice, but is deeply rooted in a psychological fear of rejection, emotional abandonment, or the destruction of stable family bonds.

The shame of admitting to having contracted an intimate disease, coupled with feelings of guilt for having exposed the other person, paralyzes the affected individual’s ability to communicate.

By concealing the truth and evading the moral responsibility to report the situation, the patient unwittingly condemns their partner to silently develop the same disease.

This failure to report the situation prevents at-risk contacts from receiving preventive medical eva luations or early diagnoses, thereby perpetuating an endless cycle of biological transmission that healthcare professionals will never be able to break.

Unawareness of One’s Own Vulnerabilities

Complementing this harmful intentional concealment, we face another extremely risky dynamic of evasion, driven in this case by sheer ignorance and disregard for real biological dangers.

An alarming number of citizens engage in completely unprotected physical activities, shielding themselves behind a false sense of anatomical invulnerability.

This phenomenon stems from a complete lack of understanding of the microscopic mechanisms of cellular transmission and from deeply entrenched social myths that erroneously associate infectious diseases solely with certain marginalized socioeconomic or demographic groups.

Firmly believing that such a thing will never happen to them, individuals refuse to use prophylactic barrier methods and ignore any preventive health warnings.

This disconnect from physiological reality prevents them from routinely undergoing screening tests, allowing highly destructive microorganisms to colonize their bodily mucous membranes without encountering any early medical resistance.

Recognizing our own biological susceptibilities is the first essential step toward adopting mature and responsible behaviors that fully protect both our individual systemic health and the cellular integrity of those around us.
