Paragraph 36.3: Determines that in order to promote and facilitate the implementation of the requirements to be met by the voluntary "may contain" labeling information, the European Commission shall adopt the necessary implementing measures or acts. The commission shall adopt implementing measures to apply the requirements described in paragraph 36.2 to the voluntary food information shown below:
Information on the adventitious presence of substances or products in foods that may cause allergic reactions or intolerances in consumers.
Information on foods suitable for vegans or vegetarians. The possibility of displaying information on reference intakes or amounts of nutrients to be consumed, aimed at one or more sectors of the population, can be considered.
In general, the food industry supports the initiative to implement a European guideline for the correct implementation of "may contain" labeling.
Mandatory food information takes precedence over voluntary information, so that voluntary information should not be displayed in the space available for mandatory food information.
